    Knee & Hip Joint Replacement

Hip or knee replacement surgery lasts two to three hours. Two days after the operation, the patient can sit up and perform breathing exercises and start exercising his limb muscles. On the third day, providing there are no complications, they are allowed to put weight on the operated limb. A successful replacement leads to freedom from pain and recovery of full joint function. Recovery period normally lasts from 3-6 months, after which the patient is fully back to normal, and can engage in sporting activities.

Radialspec Shock Wave Therapy (developed by Medispec, Israel)

Radialspec technology is based on vibration effect of the acoustic wave and its impact on the affected area. This treatment is applicable in case of the following orthopedic problems:

    • Acute or chronic ligament/tendon inflammation
    • Exostosis (formation of new bone on surface of existing bones)
    • Chronic small joint (hands, feet, ankles, wrists) pain
    • Chronic back pain
    • Muscle pain
    • Non-united fractures, sprains, and torn ligaments
    • Certain musculoskeletal disorders

    Pediatric Orthopedic Oncology

Israeli specialists and medical centers have extensive experience in diagnosing and treating children with various bone tumors (i.e. Ewing's sarcoma, granulomas, etc.). In the event of a suspected tumor, the parents can contact a hospital/treating specialist, describe the symptoms and send relevant medical information, and receive information as to the feasibility of the treatment.

After the child's arrival in Israel, he/she will undergo a comprehensive evaluation. Normally, screening will include bone scintigraphy, MRI and CT scans, and a biopsy. Additional procedures will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Once all results are in, a treatment plan will be developed by the treating pediatric oncologist.
